Local musician and broadcaster Nicholas Squirrell, performing under the moniker DJSquirrell, has officially announced the launch of his 2026 creative campaign—a journey defined by radical honesty, genre-defying music, and a fierce pursuit of personal independence.
Originally from Margate, Kent, the 34-year-old artist has become a fixture of the Stroud creative scene, using his platform, Legend Squirrell Radio, to broadcast a message of resilience. His latest work, "Rooftop Revelation," is being hailed by his growing fanbase as a "breakthrough anthem" for those navigating the complexities of mental health and the UK benefits system.
A Fusion of Genres: The DJSquirrell Anthology
Squirrell’s music defies traditional categorization, blending the raw aggression of Metal and Rock with the narrative depth of Country and the high energy of Electronic Dance Music. His discography serves as a raw, unfiltered diary:
"Rooftop Revelation": A battle cry for mental health awareness and taking control of one's narrative.
"All Planned": Social commentary questioning modern reality.
"Dolly": A tribute to the unconditional love of his canine companion.
"Miss You" & "Photos of Memories": Cinematic memorial tracks dedicated to late loved ones.
The Mission: From DWP to Independence
Squirrell is transparent about his current journey on the DWP benefits system, setting a bold ten-year goal for total creative and financial independence.
"I want to show people that you can start with nothing and build a legacy," says Squirrell. "In ten years, I’ll be off the system, living in my own home, touring live, and showing the world the real 'unfiltered' life through my own TV programme—just like The Osbournes."
The "Don’t Hide" Movement
Beyond the music, Squirrell is building a movement based on transparency. His core philosophy—"Don’t hide. Let the wind be your witness"—encourages others to speak out about their struggles.
"Scream your heart out; let your voice be heard," Squirrell adds. "Let your story unfold."
Local residents can hear DJSquirrell nightly on Legend Squirrell Radio (9 pm–Midnight) or via his official website.
